Getting in the middle of other
peoples fights is a good way to get your ___ kicked.
Wisdom of the Street
It is a
good idea to try to keep the peace or get warring parties to stop warring. But
it can also get you in trouble with both sides.
My high
school friend Gary W was a Chicago Policeman. He intervened in a domestic
fight, keeping the man from pummeling the woman. The very large and heavy woman
objected and took my friend down, biting him severely.
I did a year of social work in
Norfolk, VA. I spent a great deal of time trying to keep the peace. One evening
a major fight broke out. One fellow was swinging his switchblade while the
other was trying to get at him with brass knuckles. A Good Samaritan tried to
intervene. Brass knuckle man beat the Good Samaritan badly.
Lesson Learned – Be a Peacemaker,
but try to stay out of the line of fire.
A lesson that the United States of America should learn.
